Vladimir Nabokov: Poetry, Memoir, and Fiction Sold Out
Wednesday, 5:45 - 7:45 pm
February 27 - April 24 (class will not meet April 10)

Vladimir Nabokov was the product of revolution, exile, tragedy and world war-all before his relocation to America and commitment to writing in English. These experiences perhaps account for his determination to create beauty and to employ counter-punching, subversive humor. We will tackle Nabokov's literary achievements step by step, training on his poetry, his memoir, and his shorter fiction before wading into Lolita. We will discover the joy of his language together with the insight from his gymnastic mind. Eight sessions, $190.

Matt Laufer holds a Ph.D. in English from Columbia University. He has taught literature at Columbia, Barnard College, and various college preparatory schools and has published articles on Nabokov, Melville, and Woolf.
