Theater Replayed: Women Playwrights since 1900 Sold Out
Tuesdays, 6 - 7:30 pm
September 24 - November 19 (class will not meet October 29)

We will study the varied conversation women playwrights have been engaged in with the theater for the past century. From Lillian Hellmann to Lorraine Hansberry to Wendy Wasserstein: what insights do these writers bring to issues of gender, race, economics, politics, and society? We will consider how the conversation has evolved and where it is today. Chicago playwright Margaret Lewis will join our final class meeting to discuss what it means to be a female playwright today. Please read Caryl Churchill's Cloud Nine for the first session. Eight sessions, $200.

Todd Bauer, who holds an M.A. in liberal studies from Northwestern University, is a playwright and director whose work has been performed in Chicago, New York, and Washington, D.C.
