Richard M. Daley's Chicago
Tuesdays, 6 - 7:30 pm
February 19 - March 26

During his twenty-two years in office, Richard M. Daley physically transformed Chicago. Out went the gritty, worn-down, post-industrial Midwestern capital. In came a beautiful, sophisticated global city. Both business and culture thrived during his reign. Yet like Daley himself, Chicago remained complex and full of contradictions: culture and power, wealth and poverty; sophistication and callousness, civic virtue and materialism. We will examine Chicago's culture, politics, and policy during Richard M. Daley's mayoralty. Six sessions, $170.

Keith Koeneman is the author of First Son: The Biography of Richard M. Daley, which is being published by the University of Chicago Press.
