God of the Philosophers: Hume's Dialogues
Tuesdays, 5:45 - 7:45 pm
September 17 - November 19

Lately, the debate about God has become rather shrill. Hume's ingenious, witty, and lively dialogues show us how to talk about religion critically without succumbing to polemics. Does God exist? Can we say anything about him? Was the universe designed by some great intelligence? Could a good God have created a world with so much misery in it? Is belief superstition? These are among the enduring questions discussed in this classic work of philosophical skepticism. Ten sessions, $220.

Thomas Zebrowski holds an M.A. in theology from the University of Oxford and a Ph.D. in religious ethics from the University of Chicago Divinity School.
