Tuesdays, 5:45 - 7:45 pm

We will explore the development of news media criticism in the United States over nearly a century by reading and discussing some of the most memorable and witty criticisms of American media. We will start with Walter Lippman in the 1920s and continue into the work of contemporary writers such as Eric Alterman and James Fallows. We will also examine critical reaction to the rise of television and online journalism. Six sessions, $170.
