Discover the roots of The Hobbit by delving into Norse mythology, German legend, and English literature. We will read J.R.R. Tolkien's classic novel in detail while we explore ancient poems and tales of wizards and wanderers, dwarves and dragons, and heroes and hoards in some of the Northern European sources Tolkien drew upon to create Middle Earth. Eight sessions, $190.

Karl E. H. Seigfried teaches Norse religion at Carthage College and writes The Norse Mythology Blog, voted Best Religion Weblog 2012. He holds degrees in literature and music from UC-San Diego, UW-Madison, and UT-Austin.
