How does the Newberry use the information I submit online?

What is the Annual Fund?
The Annual Fund supports the Newberry’s efforts to care for our world-renowned collection materials and make these items accessible—free of charge—to thousands of genealogists, artists, scholars, educators, students, and other people like you from Chicago and around the globe each year. From the reading rooms and exhibition galleries to our graduate seminars and public programs, the Newberry’s staff, patrons, and friends appreciate your help in making what we do possible.
Is my Annual Fund gift tax deductible?
Yes. To the extent the law allows, Newberry Annual Fund gifts are fully tax-deductible. After we receive and process your donation, an acknowledgement letter will be sent to you with your membership information. This letter will serve as your tax receipt.

How do I become a member of the Newberry Associates or President’s Fellows?
To become a member, simply make an Annual Fund contribution of $50 or more. In recognition of your support, you will become a member of the Newberry Associates and President’s Fellows. The yearly giving levels are:
Bibliophiles - $50 to $99
Authors - $100 to $249
Literati - $250 to $499
Humanists - $500 to $999
Scholars - $1,000 to $1,499
President’s Fellows - $1,500 or more
When will my credit or debit card be charged if I make a gift online?
For a one-time gift, your card is charged at the time you complete the online transaction.
What is Monthly Giving?
Monthly Giving is a convenient way to support the Newberry’s Annual Fund by setting up an ongoing contribution. First, you choose an amount to give monthly and then the Newberry will automatically bill your credit or debit card. The minimum contribution is $5 per month.
When will my credit or debit card be charged for Monthly Giving?
Regardless of when you sign up for Monthly Giving, your card will be charged on the 15th of the month. If the 15th falls on a weekend or holiday, your card will be charged the following business day.
Is my Monthly Giving automatically renewed every year?
Yes. Monthly Giving is an ongoing donation plan. We will continue to charge your credit or debit card on the 15th of the month until you cancel or change your plan.
How do I change the amount of my monthly gift, the credit or debit card I use for Monthly Giving, or cancel my Monthly Giving?
This can easily be taken care of by contacting Wendy Buta at (312) 255-3581.
Is my Newberry Associates or President’s Fellows membership renewed through my Monthly Giving plan?
Yes. When you set up your Monthly Giving plan, you will receive your membership information and donor card. Your membership and associated benefits are valid for one year. New membership information and an updated donor card will be mailed to you every year as long as your Monthly Giving plan is active. The Monthly Giving plans that correspond with Associates and President’s Fellows giving levels are:
Bibliophiles - $5 a month
Authors - $10 a month
Literati - $25 a month
Humanists - $50 a month
Scholars - $100 a month
President’s Fellows - $125 a month
