Support the Newberry's First and Foremost Campaign

The Newberry’s Principal Cataloging Librarian, Jessica Grzegorski, explains how the cataloging process empowers library users to find and access our collection while enhancing opportunities for research.

The Newberry’s First and Foremost campaign aims to raise $30 million to fund the renovation of our first floor, expand and preserve the library’s unparalleled collection, increase opportunities for programming for both humanities scholars and the general public, and strengthen the library’s financial security for generations to come.

"The renovation will allow us to realize more fully the potential of our building to welcome visitors, communicate how our collection and program can be used, and engage readers and other users with our collections and programs in innovative ways," explained President David Spadafora. "Equally important, however, is raising funds for the programs and activities that will take place in these new spaces, as well as to support our professional staff as they deploy - and continue to develop - their expertise and creativity to serve the needs of all our users. Such funding is particularly important for an institution that has always served the public without any admission charge."

We are grateful for your support of these exciting opportunities as we work to keep the Newberry Library First and Foremost among research libraries in Chicago and around the world. Thank you.
